Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for a MySQL Database Administrator to join the White Digital Media in San Diego. The candidate is a technically skilled individual with good analytical skills and a strong work ethic to join a team responsible for maintaining the 24x7 production MySQL database systems on Linux. We are seeking an individual who is flexible and a committed team player!

Responsibilities:

- MySQL database server maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning..

- Provide 'best practices' knowledge related to the use of the MySQL database technology.

- Troubleshoot and administer databases on a 7X24 schedule.

- Responsibilities include user management, application support, disk space management and working with Linux system administrator to trouble shoot database issues.

- Implement security policy and procedures.

- Automate regular operational tasks using shell and Perl scripts.

- Manage database operations and all things database related.

Requirement:

- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.

- Minimum of 4 years experience as a MySQL Database Administrator with at least 2 years supporting a highly available, 24x7-production, MySQL Database environment.

- Strong knowledge of Unix Operating System internals, preferably Linux

- Experience with replication/clustering/tuning/sizing/monitoring, including operating systems for running MySQL and implementing / supporting high volume MySQL transactions.

- Strong knowledge of SQL

- Hands on experience in shell scripting.

- Experience working in 24/7 operational environments.

- Knowledge of Backup/Recovery/Upgrade procedures.

- Motivation and ability to quickly learn and adapt with a high degree of independence.

- Excellent problem-solving skills.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Takes accountability and ownership.

- Demonstrates a can-do and positive attitude.

- The ability to work under pressure in a live environment.

- 24/7 on-call and availability.
